Meet the Purefy Team: Evan
August 21, 2019
How long have you been at Purefy, and what did you do previously?
I have been with Purefy for roughly two years. Before joining the Purefy team, I worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where I was a manager in the Myrtle Beach area. Specifically, I ran the Georgetown and Pawley’s Island locations. Purefy presented such a great opportunity that I had to move back up to my hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
Tell us something interesting about yourself, that most people wouldn’t guess.
Tough question, but I’m an open book! Most people looking at me would not guess that I was a Division 1 college cross country and track runner at Coastal Carolina University. On the track I specialized in the 10K, simply because it was the longest race. Now that my competitive running career is over, Monday night basketball is my only source of cardio.
Describe your role at Purefy. What does a typical day look like?
In my work as an Operations Analyst, a typical day includes proactively reaching out to applicants to help understand their specific situation and help them make the best decision for their needs. I help guide student loan borrowers to different options they have with different lenders, and give them an understanding to how the process works. For borrowers interested in refinancing, I help determine the preliminary creditworthiness of new applicants and advise borrowers on the documents necessary to fully approve their applications.
Any tips for people looking into student loans or student loan refinancing?
The best tip I can offer is DO YOUR RESEARCH! For student loans, pay attention to the interest rate offered — finding the lender offering the best rate on our rate comparison tool can help you save a lot of money. Interest accrues daily on student loans, so every fraction of a percent makes a difference. For refinancing, you should check out what benefits you have going with one lender over another as it pertains to your goals; whether that’s interest rate, term length, taking over loans, combining loans with a spouse, etc.
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
On the weekends I can typically be found hanging out with friends in the city. Richmond always has some sort of festival, and if not, plenty of breweries to visit. During the Spring and Summer, I can usually be found doing something outside, like walking trails by the river or hanging out on a rooftop bar. Once Fall and Winter roll around I am glued to the TV watching football — notably the Virginia Tech Hokies and Pittsburgh Steelers.
What do you like most about Purefy?
What I like most about Purefy is the community of people I work with. Everyone is friendly and genuinely wants to help others. We crack jokes in the office and it makes coming to work enjoyable. I never dread coming into work because I get to hang out with quality people!
