How long have you been at Purefy, and what did you do previously?
I’ve been with Purefy since October 2015 when we were still known as CordiaGrad. I was previously a teller with Bank of Virginia and moved over to CordiaGrad when the student loan refi program took off.
Tell us something interesting about yourself, that most people wouldn’t guess.
My first concert was Destiny’s Child on the TRL tour (2001!) and I’m still proud of that one.
Describe your role at Purefy. What does a typical day look like?
Lots of emails, phone calls, and chats. I also handle debt-to-income reviews and help a lot of applicants who may not meet the traditional requirements but have a strong case for approval. My days are steady and rarely boring.
Any tips for people looking into student loans or student loan refinancing?
For those looking at in-school student loans: explore your options thoroughly before deciding to take out any private loans. Exhaust all potential federal grants/loans first and apply for tons of scholarships. If you do still need to take out private loans to cover additional costs, our rate comparison tool is a great place to start.
For those looking to refinance: I may sound like a broken record, but explore your options thoroughly. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if there’s any aspect of this process you don’t understand. Refinancing is a big decision, and it’s not for everyone.
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
Cuddle my dog, put on a record and play video games…I am very into Super Mario Maker 2 right now. I also enjoy riding my moped (when it runs) and going to as many shows as possible.
What do you like most about Purefy?
I like the flexibility that comes with working for a growing team. There are plenty of opportunities to learn and take on more responsibility, which keeps things interesting.
